A study published in the fall of 2014 observed the changes in psychological states after completing high aerobic intensity training among patients with depression and schizophrenia. These psychological states were compared to those of healthy individuals.

All three groups showed improvement in well-being, but only patients with depression logged improvement after the 3 hour interval. Both participants with schizophrenia and depression showed this improvement significantly longer than healthy individuals.
