Vancouver Psychotherapy | Port Moody Psychotherapy

We provide individual psychological therapy, or psychotherapy to individuals with difficulties related to ADHD and/or attention and self-regulation, anxiety and depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma, relationship problems, addictive or unwanted behaviors.

We use primarily mindfulness-based methods to help people struggling with thought patterns, feelings and behaviors that are not working well. In particular, we are striving to better ourselves as practitioners of mindfulness-based treatment approaches – in particular, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Metacognitive Therapy.

These approaches emphasize changing how you relate to your thoughts, rather than changing the content of thought. This is achieved by observing your thoughts, feelings and action tendencies, and by gaining clarity and fluency with regard to your values.

These processes defuse you from unhelpful thoughts, allowing freedom to move in valued directions. It is possible to use mindfulness techniques to function better without necessarily practicing mindful meditation.

Dr. Jones is also trained in CBT and interpersonal-psychodynamic therapy methods which he uses as appropriate. He would be happy to talk more with you about the different approaches available for helping you to make the changes you are wanting.
